What is Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage?

Medicare prescription drug coverage is a voluntary benefit under the Medicare program. The Medicare prescription drug coverage program is sometimes called "Part D." Part D benefits are provided by private insurance companies.

There are many Part D plans to choose from in Maine.

You can enroll in a new Part D plan from October 15 to December 7 every year for enrollment in a Plan the following year. (Special enrollment periods also exist. For more information about these, contact your local Area Agency on Aging: 1-887-353-3771.)
