Information for Medicare Providers

Is there a deadline to enroll for Part D coverage?

Yes. Starting in the fall of 2011, the annual enrollment period for Medicare Part D Plans will be from October 15 to December 7. Note: This is earlier than the enrollment period has been in the past.

If you are not yet eligible for Medicare, when you become eligible, you will also be able to enroll for Part D coverage at that time.

Special enrollment periods also exist. For example, if you have Maine Care or the Medicare Savings Program in addition to Medicare, you can change plans every month. If you move to a new area of the country, or move into a nursing home you also have a special enrollment period. For more information on these and other special enrollment periods, contact your local Area Agency on Aging. (1-877-353-3771)
