Legal Services for the Elderly - Staff Attorney Position
Scarborough Office
LSE is a statewide non-profit organization that provides free legal services to Maine’s seniors. Staff Attorneys handle a wide
variety of civil litigation matters and engage in extensive outreach. The open position is at LSE’s Scarborough office.
Applicants must be licensed to practice in Maine. The successful candidate will have 0-5 years of experience, a willingness
to engage in travel as necessary to meet client needs, an interest in and/or experience doing civil litigation, and a
commitment to working with and helping the elderly. LSE’s Deputy Director is responsible for training and supervising
all staff attorneys and she is based at LSE’s Scarborough office. That makes this is an outstanding training opportunity
for a less experienced lawyer.

Medicare Part D Appeals Specialist
LSE is a non-profit organization that provides free legal services to Maine’s seniors. This is an immediate,
fulltime opening, M-F, 8:30 to 5:00, in the Augusta office.
The Appeals Specialist helps elderly and disabled callers who are on limited incomes obtain access to prescription drugs
under Medicare Part D. Services are provided entirely via telephone. Extensive training will be provided regarding
Medicare Part D and this person will work as a part of a team of four paralegals under the supervision of an attorney.
This position requires excellent oral communication and problem solving skills and an ability to understand and explain
health benefit information. The successful candidate must have a proven ability to provide exceptional client service
while working in a fast-paced work environment, as well as strong computer and advocacy skills. Some post-secondary training
is preferred.
