Summer Food Programs
Summer is here! For so many children throughout Maine, the end of school means the end of school breakfast and lunch - often
their most reliable source of nutrition. Over 125 schools in Maine met the guidelines for holding summer food programs last year
and did not host a site. We have a long way to go to reach Maine children with summer meals! That means we have a lot of children in
Maine missing out on healthy, nutritious lunches.
Are kids in your community missing out? Don’t know? Give us a call for the answer!

Working with the Maine Department of Education Child Nutrition Services, Partners in Ending Hunger will help your community
learn how to sponsor a Summer Food Service Program. The U.S. Department of Agriculture provides federal money for food for children
from families with low incomes. You can find these programs at schools, parks, public pools, neighborhood centers, and other
local programs.
Use these sources to get information about the summer food program or to find a site close to you:
We have an opportunity to make this summer better for children and families!
