Who Knows You the Best?
Make a Difference. Tell Your Story.

by Steve Hoad, MAIN Leadership Team member

Who knows your struggles?
Who knows what you need?
Who knows you best?

You do, of course. You live it every day.
So then, who can best tell your story?

This year, our legislature and Governor need to know you and your stories. We can’t assume that they understand what goes on in your life. They need to hear from YOU.

The state faces tough budget challenges this year. As a result, the legislature is looking at proposals that may take away some of the services you need. MAIN is asking you to come forward and help policymakers know you, and your stories. Help us protect the programs that are important to you.

We understand your wish to remain quiet. But, we also want you to understand how important it is for lawmakers to know you. They need to know how living on a low income affects your life. They need to understand how cuts in services will make life harder for you and many others, and in the end cost more.

Together, we can make a difference!

When we ask you to share your stories, remember that MEJP and MAIN are ready to help. Please read this issue's Legislative Updates and Action Alerts. If you think that any of the issues will affect you, please contact Maine Equal Justice or any MAIN leader.

We Need You!
You know your story better than anyone.
Your voice will make a difference.
