New Child Care Reimbursement Process
Child care payments for ASPIRE and Transitional Child Care participants are now being placed on
participants’ EBT cards. Participants can choose to have payments go directly to their child care providers
instead. At this time, participants must ask for this in writing.
Maine Equal Justice worked with the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) to develop a simple
form that participants can give to their workers. ASPIRE participants who want the payment to go directly
to their provider, should fill out the ASPIRE Child Care “Authorization Form”
and return it their ASPIRE case worker.
Transitional Child Care participants should fill out the
Transitional Child Care “Authorization Form” and
return it to their eligibility specialist. If you do not know your current eligibility specialist,
call your regional DHHS office and the person who answers the phone should be able to direct you to the
correct person. Find your regional office here,
or look in your local phone book.
DHHS should accept these forms. Please let us know if they do not. If you have any questions about this
new process, e-mail Ana: ahicks AT mejp DOT org - or call her toll-free at 1-866-626-7059 ext 210.
As you know, you now receive transitional child care payments on your EBT card and it is your
responsibility to pay your child care provider. You may choose to have your child care payment sent
directly to your provider instead of being applied to your EBT card. This is your decision and should be
discussed with your provider. In order for DHHS/TCC to do this, written permission from you is necessary.
If you would like the payment sent directly to your child care provider please fill out the correct form and
mail it to your regional DHHS office or give it to your eligibility specialist.
