Do You Need Food Stamps?

  • Are you between the ages of 19-49?
  • Are you living without minor children in your home?
  • Are you living in Androscoggin, Cumberland, Kennebec, Sagadahoc or York County?

If you answered “yes” to all of these questions, please contact Jack Comart at Maine Equal Justice Partners, toll-free 1-866 626-7059, ext. 202. Maine Equal Justice may be able to help you!

About 6,000 people lost their Food Stamps in the fall of 2006. The people who lost Food Stamps are able-bodied adults, without children, between the ages of 19-49 who live in certain areas of the state. They do not fit into any other group of “exempt” Food Stamp work participants.

The cut-off of Food Stamps happened because of a decision by the federal government.

Maine Equal Justice believes that the ongoing loss of Food Stamps for this group may be unlawful. Please let us know if you or anyone you know needs Food Stamps and fits into this group.
