Northern Regional MAIN Update

Northern Regional MAIN had a busy fall. A dozen members knocked on doors in different low-income neighborhoods to register voters, give out information on TABOR and tell folks about our group. The people who came to the doors were happy to meet us and often invited us in for a chat. Many told us of problems they have with landlords or property managers. To help, our group invited someone from Pine Tree Legal Assistance to our January 20th meeting to learn more about tenants' rights and responsibilities. We hope many of our neighbors will come with their questions. We plan to find other ways to help get low-income voices of housing boards, and we hope to start a local tenants group.

Each year, we have great fun putting together Thanksgiving boxes for local families. This year we delivered boxes to brighten the day for sixty families.

We also celebrated the December holidays by having a party for low-income children in the area. Toys-for-Tots provided presents for 28 children. Our members provided lots of good things to eat and had fun helping the kids with a craft project. This event was also attended by parents. It gave us a great chance to get to meet new folks, tell them about our work and invite them to our January meeting.
