The October 14th Conference is the 1st step to setting MAIN’s legislative agenda for 2007-2008. Learn about legislation that we know we will have to work on. Hear about other possible opportunities. Talk and list problem areas in social service programs and in our lives that perhaps we can work on through legislation - TANF/Aspire/PaS; Healthcare; Low-wage work issues; or Housing/General Assistance/Heating Assistance. Vote on our priorities using “dot-mocracy.” At MAIN’s November 9th meeting we will finalize our legislative agenda. A registration form and more details will be in the September MAIN Update.

At the Conference, we will be doing something new for MAIN – voting for officers. We’d like to encourage active MAIN members to consider filling one of these positions. Anyone accepting leadership responsibilities will be expected to do their best but you will not “hang out there alone.” As always in MAIN, we all work together and learn as we lead.

At the Conference, we will take nominations and vote by show of hands. Those nominated must:

  • Be an active MAIN member for at least 1 year;
  • Give their permission to be nominated; and
  • Be willing to serve for two years.

If you’d like to talk about taking on a leadership role in MAIN contact Russell Anderson 832-4754 or Steve Hoad 445-2141.
